Recap: Beaumont Cougars vs. Jurupa Hills Spartans

Even though the Jurupa Hills Spartans scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, the Beaumont Cougars still came out on top. Beaumont walked away with a 64-55 win over Jurupa Hills. Given Beaumont's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Jurupa Hills is ranked 761st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Beaumont's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adrian Farias, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Vince tracy Capuras, who scored 21 points along with three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Jurupa Hills lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryan Cabrera. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The match was Cabrera's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Julian Morelos, who scored seven points.

Beaumont has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Jurupa Hills, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beaumont and Indian Hill will face off at 12:30 p.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Indian Hill knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Beaumont likes a good challenge. As for Jurupa Hills, they will head out on the road to face off against Rialto at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Rialto's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
