Softball Recap: Downsville Has No Trouble Against Southwood

Downsville was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Southwood on Thursday. Downsville blew past Southwood 20-3. That looming 20-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Demons yet this season.

Shiloh Walsworth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Walsworth was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Abbie Barkley looked comfortable as she scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Eden Miller, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amber Nappier, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Downsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .966. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwood only posted an OBP of .375.

Downsville's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Southwood, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Downsville will square off against Beekman Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Southwood, they will face off against Ebarb at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
