Basketball Recap: Holmdel Takes a Loss

Holmdel lost against Red Bank Catholic back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Holmdel Hornets were beaten by the Red Bank Catholic Caseys 52-21. The game marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Red Bank Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addy Nyemchek, who went 7 for 10 en route to 15 points along with five boards and five steals. That's the most steals Nyemchek has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Christina Liggio, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Holmdel and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Red Bank Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Holmdel will be playing in front of their home fans against Red Bank Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Red Bank Catholic has already played their next match (against St. Elizabeth), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
