Basketball Recap: Troy Extends Winning Streak to Five

Troy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans 74-52 on Saturday. The Flying Horses have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Despite the defeat, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake saw an underclassman step up: sophomore John Klopfer dropped a double-double with 24 points and 11 boards. Klopfer's big performance that afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ricky Flauto-Nicklas, who posted six points and six rebounds.

The win (which was Troy's fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-5. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 3-19.

Looking ahead, Troy will challenge La Salle Institute at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in La Salle Institute's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
