Baseball Preview: Richton Rebels vs. Greene County Wildcats
For the second straight game, Richton will face off against Greene County. Richton will head out on the road to square off against Greene County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Richton took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Greene County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Richton had just enough and edged out Greene County 7-6. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Rebels as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Brooks Hall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since March 3rd. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Hall wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gaige Everett, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Elisha Byrd was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Richton's victory bumped their record up to 3-15. As for Greene County, the defeat snapped their winning streak at ten games and leaves them with a 12-6 record.
