Robbinsville falls short of Mount Airy in the playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Robbinsville Black Knights can now relate to. They fell 27-16 to the Granite Bears on Friday. Robbinsville's defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Robbinsville's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cuttler Adams, who gained 126 total yards and a touchdown. Adams' longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards.

Tyler Mason continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mount Airy, rushing for 188 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Mason hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Taeshon Martin, who rushed for 126 yards while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.

Robbinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 13-2. As for Mount Airy, they have yet to lose a game on the road this season, leaving them with a 15-0 record.

Robbinsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mount Airy will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Tarboro at 12:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Tarboro: 7, Mount Airy: 5.9) so any points scored will be well earned.
