Soccer Game Preview: Little Cypress-Mauriceville vs. Lumberton

Little Cypress-Mauriceville is 0-10 against Lumberton since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears will take on the Lumberton Raiders at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Bridge City an 8-0 shutout on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Bears with their most commanding win of the season.

Meanwhile, Lumberton waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Everything went their way against the Tigers as they made off with a 7-0 win. Considering the Raiders have won seven contests by more than four goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Silsbee from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Tessa Christopherson led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Lumberton pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four games. As for Little Cypress-Mauriceville, their win bumped their record up to 3-12.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Lumberton in their previous meeting back in January. Can Little Cypress-Mauriceville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
