Basketball Recap: Summit Charter Academy Takes a Loss

Summit Charter Academy played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Cherokee Braves and fell 81-20. The game marked the Bears' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

August Stewart-Payne was Summit Charter Academy's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Stewart-Payne also led the team in rebounds with six.

Cherokee got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Utsela Saunooke out in front who shot 63% from the field on his way to 11 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Matix Stamper, who posted six points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Summit Charter Academy and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Cherokee, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Coming up, Summit Charter Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Robbinsville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cherokee, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-50 loss against Varsity Opponent on the 13th.
