Baseball Recap: Covenant Academy's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Covenant Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 21-2 margin over the Twiggs Academy Trojans. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 18-3 win on Thursday.

Joseph Christy made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Covenant Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Christy was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Asa Wood was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Landon Sneed also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Covenant Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .600 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Covenant Academy's record now sits at 7-10. As for Twiggs Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Covenant Academy will welcome Central Fellowship Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.14 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Twiggs Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Thomas Jefferson Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
