Recap: Timpview Thunderbirds vs. Cedar Valley Aviators

The Timpview Thunderbirds entered their tilt with the Cedar Valley Aviators with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Timpview slipped by Cedar Valley 43-42 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Timpview also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2020.

Lina Ballin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiaiaga Galea'i, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.

Despite the loss, Cedar Valley saw an underclassman step up: Hadley Whiting scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Ellie Larson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals and two blocks.

Cedar Valley struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Timpview pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for Cedar Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Timpview will take on Salem Hills at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Salem Hills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. As for Cedar Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Maple Mountain at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Maple Mountain is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55 points per game.
