Basketball Recap: Sage Pytel's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Nease over Tocoi Creek

Nease lost against Tocoi Creek back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Nease Panthers took a hard 55-38 fall against the Tocoi Creek Toros. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Toros are ranked 26th).

Nease lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sage Pytel, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. What's more, Pytel also racked up four steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Audrey Rollins was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Nease's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Tocoi Creek, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Nease will welcome St. Augustine at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tocoi Creek, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 57-36 victory against Fleming Island on the 6th.
