Softball Recap: Hephzibah Rebels vs. Westside Patriots

Hephzibah's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Westside Patriots a 21-0 shutout. Considering the Rebels have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hephzibah let Nhu-Y Tran and Annabelle Rineer loose on the outfield. Tran scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her seven plate appearances, while Rineer scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Taniya Bennett, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Hephzibah hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westside struck out six times.

Hephzibah pushed their record up to 5-5 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Westside, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Academy of Richmond County the next time they take the field. Westside will head out to face Academy of Richmond County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Hephzibah will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
