Football Recap: Anthony Abarno's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Plainville over Bloomfield

Plainville lost against Bloomfield back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Blue Devils fell 54-41 to the Warhawks. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Plainville lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Anthony Abarno, who threw for 323 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for 30 yards. A healthy portion of Abarno's aerial production (142 yards to be exact) went to Chase Bouchard, who also brought in three receiving touchdowns.

Plainville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Yhosman Moffi.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bloomfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Javonni Reynolds, who rushed for 100 yards and one TD on only 12 carries. Reynolds didn't just play on offense: he also made four total tackles and defended three passes. Another signal caller making a difference was Cameron White, who threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes.

Plainville now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Bloomfield, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.

Plainville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 35-20 win against Rocky Hill on the 23rd. As for Bloomfield, they will host Northwest Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' defense has only allowed 6.5 points per game this season, so the Warhawks' offense will have their work cut out for them.
