Basketball Game Preview: Lamar Thunder vs. Pagosa Springs Pirates

The Lamar Thunder and the Pagosa Springs Pirates will face off at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lamar is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against DSST: Montview as Lamar made off with a 50-27 victory.

Lamar's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tatum Milenski led the charge by going 5-for-11 en route to 13 points and five boards. Milenski continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Robbins, who posted eight points along with nine rebounds and six steals.

Meanwhile, Pagosa Springs really took it to Fort Morgan for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-23 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-8.

Pagosa Springs has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points over those games. Lamar's victory bumped their record up to 19-5.

Lamar beat Pagosa Springs 43-30 in their previous matchup back in March of 2018. Will Lamar repeat their success, or does Pagosa Springs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
