Baseball Recap: Shiner Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Shiner can now relate to. They fell just short of the Burton Panthers by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 on Thursday.

Landyn Pohler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jake Simper made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Shiner and nudges their season record down to 25-6. As for Burton, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season.

Shiner does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Burton, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-1 win against the Comanches on the 22nd.
