Softball Game Preview: Mountain Home Tigers vs. Filer Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Mountain Home Tigers duke it out with Filer Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Home has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mountain Home is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs last Friday, they were much more limited against Centennial on Monday. They lost 12-1 to the Patriots. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Mountain Home saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Orie Rau, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Filer's offense. They came up short against Rocky Mountain on Saturday, falling 14-0. The Wildcats' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Filer's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Mountain Home, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mountain Home hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Filer struggles in that department as they've averaged .400. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Mountain Home beat Filer 10-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mountain Home since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
