Softball Recap: Castle Park Trojans vs. Sweetwater Red Devils
Castle Park had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-6 to make it four. They lost 19-0 to the Sweetwater Red Devils. The Trojans were not able to make up for their loss to the Red Devils from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
As for Sweetwater, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-2-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by seven runs or more this season.
For Sweetwater's part, Tatyana Mosqueda and Gabriella Sena made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Mosqueda tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Sena pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mosqueda has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Mosqueda went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Sena earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Ariana Tovar was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Layla Silva was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI.
