Soccer Game Preview: Highland vs. Lancaster

The Highland Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Lancaster Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Highland's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Antelope Valley 1-0. The Bulldogs' winning goal came courtesy of Janelle Torres.

Meanwhile, Lancaster has been on a difficult stretch since their win on December 12. They came up short against Knight on Thursday, falling 5-1. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 977th, while the Hawks are ranked 303rd).

Highland's win bumped their record up to 6-8-2. As for Lancaster, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12-2.

Highland skirted past Lancaster 2-1 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highland since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
