Softball Recap: Lamar Takes a Loss

Lamar might've scored the first runs on Friday, but it was Sterling who claimed the real prize. The Lamar Texans came up short against the Sterling Rangers, falling 15-3. The Texans just can't catch a break and have now endured six losses in a row dating back to last season.

Lamar saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Clarissa Perez, who went a perfect1-for-1 with one RBI. Natalie Giannone was another, scoring a run and stealing a base.

Even though they lost, Lamar hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Lamar's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Sterling, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Lamar will face off against College Park at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sterling, they will take on Goose Creek Memorial at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
