Soccer Recap: Staunton River Comes Up Short

Staunton River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 5-0 to the Fleming Colonels. While losing is never fun, Staunton River can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Fleming are ranked 56th).

Staunton River's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Fleming, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Staunton River will venture away from home to face off against Lord Botetourt at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Staunton River's defense better be ready for this one: Lord Botetourt have averaged an impressive 2.6 goals per game this season. As for Fleming, they will head out on the road to challenge Patrick Henry at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
