Football Recap: Indian River Indians vs. DuPont Tigers
Indian River gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They breezed by the DuPont Tigers at home to the tune of 54-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Indians also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2023.
Indian River was led to victory by Dylan Grise and Jayvion Chandler. Grise threw for 117 yards and two touchdowns on only five passes, while Chandler rushed for 22 yards and two touchdowns.
Indian River's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged four passes before it was all said and done. It was truly a group effort as Davon Handy, Bryan Irvin, and Brennan Loose picked up one apiece.
DuPont dropped their record down to 0-2-1 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Indian River will square off against St. Elizabeth at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully St. Elizabeth focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Saturday. As for DuPont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Early College on Saturday.
