League recap: Rowlett stuns Naaman Forest in upset

5A Region II District 11 recap Oct. 30, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Rowlett, who took down 263rd ranked Naaman Forest, 37-7. Carson Hyles threw for 232 yards and one touchdown and ran for 52 yards in the win.

Garland extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region II District 11 this week by beating South Garland, 34-25. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Owls.

On the ground, Lakeview Centennial's DEMARCUS HALL has rushed for 904 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Chris Heath. The Rowlett star has 42 catches for 661 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Sachse takes on second place South Garland. Last week, Sachse, while the Colonels lost to Garland.

The Eagles moved up to 346 from 405 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region II District 11. Rowlett climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Rangers 37-7.
