Volleyball Recap: East Burke Comes Up Short

East Burke was the 3-0 winner over West Caldwell when they last played one another on September 2nd, but their luck changed this time around. The Cavaliers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors on Thursday. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

East Burke couldn't get the win, but they sure gave West Caldwell a tough time in the first set. The final score came out to 31-29, 25-21, 18-25, 25-23.

Karlie Chester paced East Burke's offense, picking up eight kills. Chester got some help from Carissa Towery and her 23 assists. Finally, Amanda McLean kept East Burke's defense grounded, leading the team with seven blocks.

East Burke's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for West Caldwell, their win ended a 12-match drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-13.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. East Burke will challenge rival R-S Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, West Caldwell is set to face off against their familiar foe Patton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
