North Kingstown and Smithfield are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Skippers will host the Sentinels at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (North Kingstown 3.8, Smithfield 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

North Kingstown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: La Salle Academy, who was ranked fourth at the time (North Kingstown was ranked seventh). The Skippers fell just short of the Rams by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Smithfield fell victim to Bishop Hendricken and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 2-0. The loss continues a trend for the Sentinels in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost six in a row.

North Kingstown dropped their record down to 13-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Smithfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.

North Kingstown couldn't quite get it done against Smithfield in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 6-2. Can the Skippers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
