Football Game Preview: Union Hill Bulldogs vs. Avalon Eagles

The Union Hill Bulldogs will square off against the Avalon Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Avalon will be up against a hot Union Hill squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. The Bulldogs blew past Saint Jo, posting a 53-8 victory.

Ej Mowery was his usual excellent self, rushing for 144 yards and three TDs on only seven carries, while also throwing for 144 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble, making 12 total tackles, and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Avalon took on Covington on Thursday. The Eagles simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Owls 55-6. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 55-6.

Union Hill better keep an eye on Josh Novak. He was instrumental in Avalon's win, rushing for 162 yards and five scores on only six carries. Novak's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 122 rushing yards.

Union Hill's record is now 8-2. As for Avalon, their record now sits at an identical 8-2.

Union Hill might still be hurting after the 60-38 defeat they got from Avalon in their previous matchup back in September of 2019. Thankfully for the Bulldogs, Rhett Newton (who picked up 120 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 29 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
