Volleyball Recap: Archbishop Riordan's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Archbishop Riordan posted their closest win since March 15th on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the El Camino Colts, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Crusaders as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Archbishop Riordan had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 20-25, 27-29, 25-17, 25-21, 15-11.

When it comes to explaining why El Camino lost, don't look at Elijah Buenaflor. Despite the final result, he had 27 digs. Buenaflor is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had ten or more in each of the last ten games he's played dating back to last season. Tony Chiappari also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.

Archbishop Riordan's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for El Camino, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Archbishop Riordan will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Westmoor at 4:30 p.m. on the 29th. El Camino has already played their next matchup (against Capuchino), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
