Baseball Recap: Donna Drops Season-High Score on Donna North

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Donna). They never let the Donna North Chiefs get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Tuesday. With that win, the Redskins brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Joaquin Gutierrez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Donna is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise. Gutierrez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had over his last six matches.

In other batting news, Donna let Roydaniel Gomez and Ethan Rincon run wild. Gomez went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double, while Rincon scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Rincon a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Jace Castillo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Donna was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Donna and bumps their season record up to 7-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Donna North, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Donna will have a chance to go back-to-back against Donna North: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
