Recap: Cairo Pilots vs. Frankfort Redbirds
The Cairo Pilots suffered their biggest loss since November 21, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 76-33 loss at the hands of Frankfort. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cairo has scored all season.
Cairo's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was McKenlee Pirtle, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeserick Pilgram, who scored seven points.
This is the second loss in a row for Cairo and nudges their season record down to 5-11. As for Frankfort, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season.
Cairo will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Crab Orchard at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th. Crab Orchard knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matches -- so hopefully Cairo likes a good challenge. Frankfort will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pinckneyville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
