Karter Roberts made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Wiggins got a massive performance out of Isaac Flores, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Larry Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Wiggins was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Caliche, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over Weldon Valley on Monday. The Buffaloes haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Colton Cochran, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2. Caliche is 2-1 when Cochran posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mason Hernandez, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-3.
Wiggins' victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Caliche, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wiggins has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game.
