Preview: Vicksburg Gators vs. Warren Central Vikings
Vicksburg is 8-2 against the Vikings since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Vicksburg Gators will head out on the road to square off against the Warren Central Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Vicksburg knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully the Vikings likes a good challenge.
Last Tuesday, Vicksburg faced the Titans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Vicksburg suffered a rough 77-57 loss at the hands of the Titans. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Warren Central pushed their score all the way to 76 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 84-76 to Columbus. Warren Central just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Vicksburg's loss ended a 13-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5. As for Warren Central, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.
Vicksburg didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Vikings in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 71-67 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vicksburg since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
