Volleyball Recap: Onalaska's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

It was a good run, but Onalaska unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to the Verona Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hilltoppers of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2022.

Their offense was headlined by Natalie Marso and Isabella Malecek, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Isabella Eckstein and her 11 assists.

Verona's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophia Trias, who had eight digs and three assists. That's the most assists Trias has posted over her last seven matchups. Another player making a difference was Anna Haines, who had four digs and one block.

Onalaska's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Verona, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 23-5.

Onalaska wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against La Crosse Central on the 30th. As for Verona, they have also already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Madison Memorial on the 30th.
