Basketball Recap: Velva Continues Road Dominance on Saturday

Velva won the last time they faced St. John and things went their way on Saturday too. The Velva Aggies were the clear victor by an 81-57 margin over the St. John Woodchucks. With the Aggies ahead 47-27 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Despite the loss, St. John still got an impressive performance from Simon LaRocque, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards. LaRocque has been hot, having also posted three or more blocks the last eight times he's played. Madden Parisien was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Velva pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for St. John, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Velva will challenge Berthold at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. John, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bottineau at 7:15 p.m. on January 7th.
