Softball Recap: Lake Park Wins Going Away Against Geneva

Lake Park had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Geneva on Wednesday. The Lancers blew past the Vikings 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Ariana O'Connell, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Nolbertowicz, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Lake Park is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That lines up perfectly with their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Geneva, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Park will take on Prospect at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Geneva, they will face off against St. Edward at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
