Basketball Recap: Western Boone Comes Up Short

Western Boone was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Danville Warriors and fell 70-33. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Warriors are ranked 69th).

Despite the defeat, Western Boone had strong showings from Ally Lewis, who posted 18 points, and Olivia Reagan, who had six points and six boards. Lewis is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Amaya Westerfeld also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Danville had a senior duo take command as Addison Davis almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds and Emma Ancelet went 7 of 11 en route to 16 points along with eight boards and seven assists. What's more, Davis also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maddy Wethington, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 13 points and three steals.

Western Boone's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Danville, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Western Boone has already played their next matchup, a 54-36 defeat against Monrovia on the 27th. As for Danville, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Crawfordsville at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th.
