Volleyball Recap: Tolman Tigers vs. Randolph Blue Devils

After flying high against Central on Wednesday, Tolman came back down to earth. The Tigers fell just short of the Randolph Blue Devils by a score of 3-2 on Friday. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blue Devils 25-11 in the first set.

Tolman actually scored more points across those five sets (106-97), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 11-25, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-13.

Hayson Ortiz paced Tolman's offense, picking up 20 kills. Ortiz got some help from Jean-Lucas Barroso and his 41 assists. Barroso was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Tolman's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Randolph, they moved to 2-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coming up, Tolman is taking a road trip to square off against Central Falls at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Randolph, they will welcome Quincy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
