Softball Recap: Hoover Tornados vs. Muir Mustangs
Hoover extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 12-9 in the process. They came up short against the Muir Mustangs, falling 15-0. If the Tornados were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Mustangs when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Muir, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-9 record. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
For Muir's part, Jazmin Jaquez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Jaquez has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail (Abi) Milton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaida Brown, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.
Coming up, Hoover will welcome Workman at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Muir, they will take on Sylmar in a tournament on Saturday.
