Volleyball Recap: Springville Falls Short Against Ranked American Fork

On Friday, Springville faced American Fork in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Springville Red Devils fell just short of the American Fork Cavemen by a score of 3-2. The Red Devils just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Springville took American Fork into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-23, 27-29, 25-15, 15-13.

Springville's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Cook, who had nine digs and one assist. That's the most digs Cook has posted over his last eight matchups.

Evan Olmstead had a dynamite game for American Fork, getting 21 digs and six assists. Olmstead is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had ten or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Jackson Mecham was another key player, getting 11 digs.

Springville's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for American Fork, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
