Basketball Game Preview: Fair Lawn Cutters vs. West Milford Highlanders

The Fair Lawn Cutters will challenge the West Milford Highlanders at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Fair Lawn lost 44-23 to Ridgewood on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Cutters can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Maroons are ranked 143rd).

Meanwhile, West Milford entered their tilt with Pompton Lakes on Saturday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 52-27 win. The Highlanders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 23 points or more this season.

West Milford's win came from a few key players Fair Lawn will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Laurel Space, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 12 points along with eight boards and four steals. Amanda O'Brien was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.

West Milford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in 13 consecutive contests.

Fair Lawn's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7. As for West Milford, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
