Basketball Recap: Cardinal Newman Comes Up Short

Cardinal Newman played a tough matchup on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 48-17 loss at the hands of the Ben Lippen Falcons. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-28 two weeks ago.

Kristin Moye was Cardinal Newman's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Moye also led the team in rebounds with five.

Cardinal Newman's defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Ben Lippen, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cardinal Newman won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Providence Athletic Club at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cardinal Newman is facing Providence Athletic Club at the right time seeing as Providence Athletic Club is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Ben Lippen, they will head out on the road to take on Heathwood Hall Episcopal at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
