Basketball Recap: Fort Walton Beach Comes Up Short

Fort Walton Beach's game on Saturday was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crestview Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 79th).

When it comes to explaining why Fort Walton Beach lost, don't look at Rodric Starks. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 13 en route to 18 points and four steals. Starks continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Blaze Childers-Menser was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Fort Walton Beach has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. As for Crestview, they pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Fort Walton Beach has already played their next game, a 53-41 win against West Florida on the 5th. As for Crestview, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-40 victory against Pace on the 3rd.
