Football Game Preview: Branham Bruins vs. Leigh Longhorns + Official Tickets

Two dominant backs in Michael Murphy and Blake Zanger are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Branham Bruins will challenge the Leigh Longhorns at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Branham will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.

On Friday, Branham came up short against Santa Teresa and fell 59-49. The Bruins haven't had much luck with the Saints recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Andrew Ho put forth a good effort for the losing side as he threw for 220 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 43 yards and one score. A healthy portion of Ho's aerial production (98 yards to be exact) went to Brayden Hodges, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Leigh ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 35-28 victory over Live Oak. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Longhorns as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Zanger and Gage Jones. Zanger had a great game and gained 271 total yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Jones was balling out in the loss, rushing for 251 yards and a pair of TDs.

Branham's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Leigh, they now also have a winning record of 5-4.

Everything came up roses for Branham against Leigh when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 42-13 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
