Baseball Recap: Salem's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Salem dropped their record down to 12-6 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hidden Valley Titans. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Titans earlier this season, when they won 8-0.

As for Hidden Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

For Hidden Valley's part, their victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zachary Slough, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Braxton Nichols was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salem will take on Christiansburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Demons will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hidden Valley, they will square off against Lord Botetourt at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
