Basketball Game Preview: Seagraves Eagles vs. Smyer Bobcats

Seagraves and Smyer are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Seagraves Eagles will square off against the Smyer Bobcats at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Seagraves is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 61-10, which was the final score in Seagraves' tilt against Ropes on Friday. While losing is never fun, Seagraves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1248th, while Ropes is ranked 333rd).

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four games, Smyer finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were beaten by Whiteface 61-17. The loss continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Antelopes: they've now lost five in a row.

Smyer's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Seagraves, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.

Seagraves came up short against Smyer in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 40-33. Can Seagraves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
