Volleyball Recap: Mt. Vernon Starts Season with Win at Home

Mt. Vernon took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Saturday. They blew past the Greenwood Woodmen 3-0. The Marauders haven't had any issues with the Woodmen recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Mt. Vernon not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Greenwood between 13 and 16 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-15.

Among those leading the charge was Amelia Anderson, who had five digs and three aces. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (19).

Anderson wasn't the only good server: Mt. Vernon was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenwood didn't served any aces.

Looking ahead, Mt. Vernon will welcome Cathedral at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Greenwood, they will head out to challenge Franklin Community at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Woodmen's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
