Volleyball Recap: Weld Central Takes a Loss

Weld Central lost against Fort Morgan back in September, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Weld Central Rebels fell just short of the Fort Morgan Mustangs by a score of 3-2. The Rebels have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Weld Central took Fort Morgan into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking 12-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-13, 20-25, 23-25, 25-13.

Shelby Boxberger paced Weld Central's offense, picking up ten kills. Boxberger got some help from Tegan Huwa and her 33 assists. Finally, Vivian Rossi kept Weld Central's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Weld Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Fort Morgan, they moved to 5-16 with that win, which also ended their eight-game losing streak.

Weld Central is on the road again on Monday to play Fort Lupton at 6:00 p.m. As for Fort Morgan, they will face off against Northridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
