Preview: Smyrna vs. Stewarts Creek
Smyrna have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. On Friday they take on Stewarts Creek at 7:00 PM. Smyrna have the odds in their favor, so they'll need to guard against complacency.
Two weeks ago, Smyrna put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season. They made easy work of Siegel and carried off a 31-6 win. Junior Mikel Hartfield was the offensive standout of the match for Smyrna, as he rushed for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Meanwhile, things haven't been easy for Stewarts Creek, and their matchup two weeks ago only extended their streak of losses to five. They had victory within their grasp but couldn't quite capture it as the squad lost 26-27 to McGavock. It was a tough break for Stewarts Creek, who improved upon an already decent score from three weeks ago but lost both times.
Smyrna's victory lifted them to 4-3 while Stewarts Creek's defeat dropped them down to 2-5. Stewarts Creek's offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a Smyrna defensive front that amassed five sacks against Siegel, so we'll see if they are up to the task.
