Basketball Recap: Princeton Starts Season with Win on the Road

Princeton had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed by the Bluefield Beavers to the tune of 76-18. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Princeton was led to victory by Carley Hurt and Abbey Honaker. Hurt went 6 for 12 on her way to 15 points in addition to five boards and four steals, while Honaker went 7 of 11 on her way to 17 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Honaker a new career-high in rebounds. Asia Collins was another key player, putting up two points along with 12 rebounds, seven assists, and five steals.

Bluefield's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Princeton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-18 win against Shady Spring on the 17th. As for Bluefield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 74-21 defeat against Mingo Central on the 16th.
