Preview: La Porte Bulldogs vs. Angleton Wildcats

La Porte and Angleton are an even 4-4 against one another since November of 2014, but not for long. The La Porte Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Angleton Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

La Porte pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ball. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for La Porte in their matchups with Ball: they've now lost three in a row.

La Porte's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Trent Callies, who scored 15 points along with three steals, and Phillip Ned who scored 16 points. Callies hasn't dropped below three steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Gian Guardiola, who scored six points.

Meanwhile, Angleton pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Manvel by a score of 66-63. While losing is never fun, Angleton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 603rd, while Manvel is ranked 272nd).

La Porte's defeat dropped their record down to 19-14. As for Angleton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-20 record this season.

La Porte beat Angleton 76-65 in their previous meeting back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Angleton's Ka'dyine Jones, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will La Porte still be able to contain Jones? There's only one way to find out.
