Baseball Recap: Four Straight Home Victories for Gibson Southern

Gibson Southern won against Tecumseh last Thursday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Titans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Evansville Central Bears a 3-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Titans also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Rhys Sorgius looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Grant Stinson was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Collin Higginbotham also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Gibson Southern pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Evansville Central, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Gibson Southern will take on Roncalli at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 1.6, the Royals 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Evansville Central, their road trip will continue as they head out to face Evansville Mater Dei at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight.
