Basketball Recap: Thief River Falls Takes a Loss

Thief River Falls was the 82-68 winner over Park Rapids when they last played one another back in January of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Prowlers took a 61-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Prowlers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Panthers are ranked 308th).

Thief River Falls has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Park Rapids, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-8.

Coming up, Thief River Falls will challenge East Grand Forks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Park Rapids, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-56 victory against Frazee on the 16th.
